Short Term

Longer Term

  • Municipal Water
    • Drinking Water - Currently looking into intake monitoring that will be done by Illinois American Water (Ted, December '15)
  • Fertilizer Data
    • You would calculate the total amount by county divided by area, gives you a nitrogen load.
    • You know how much fertilizer is sold in that county. We know the area of the county, and John Chick can get the percentage of the county that is cropland.

"Completed"

  • NGRREC

  • USGS Water Quality (superstations)
  • UMRR LTRM
  • Water Quality Portal
  • NOAA

Other

  • NOAA National Data Buoy Center (Ted's note: I don't think this is something we need to include on GLTG; however, it may be useful for us to have our data included in their site)

  1. Links to Live Data:

    Alton Sensor Flow Data

UMESC Excel File of Nitrate Data - select all "Field Stations", then optionally select a "Location Code" or choose the Fields in the list you want, then click Submit at the bottom.

USGS Rest API for Instantaneous Data - you can select JSON as an output format. Michael and I tested with Site Code: 01646500 & HUC Code: 02070010

  2. Two files were uploaded capturing Active Sensors (Great_Lake_To_Gulf_Active_Sites_UMESC.xlsx) and non active sites (Great_Lake_to_Gulf_Nonavtive_UMESC).

I do not see the need now or in the future to link the information in the second tab of each spreadsheet to the nitrate data, it is included for reference. The two spreadsheets distinguish sensors (monitoring locations) that are actively monitoring and that monitoring locations that are no longer being sampled. In the first tab of each spread sheet (orange tab) is the nitrogen data. The information in the orange shaded columns (Date, time, Location, Nitrate Concentration and Units) are intended for version 1 of GLTG.   The additional data (ammonia concentration, Total nitrogen) is meant to accompany the nitrate data in the raw data download.  When our audience is exploring nitrate data, they often want to know the concentrations of other species of nitrogen, such as ammonia, in addition to total nitrogen.
