I used an earthquake from hazard service for my analysis. The magnitude of this earthquake is large (magnitude = 7.9) and we got issues in econ. analysis. So, I need to generate earthquakes with lower intensities (e.g., 5.9 and 7.1 with point source away from downtown). Any advice on this? and do we need to upload simulated earthquakes to hazard service and then use it?

Yes, you can simulate and upload your own. One way you can do it is through pyIncore. You can find an example here: https://github.com/IN-CORE/pyincore/blob/master/tests/test_hazardservice.py#L122

You can write a similar script, by defining the json similar to the one provided in the example and start creating them in pyIncore database. Note that the hazards you create will only be accessible for you, by default. If you want to share them with others in COE, send us the ids so we can open them.

It might also be helpful to review the api documentation: https://incore.ncsa.illinois.edu/doc/api/
