Brown Dog (BD) data transformation services, Data Access Proxy (DAP) and Data Tilling Service (DTS), provide data format conversions and metadata extractions functionalities, respectively, through a set of consistent and programmable REST APIs. The BD framework by design is extensible and a user can contribute their tool to it and can be made available for others to use. Under the hood, the BD framework is build on top of Polyglot framework and Clowder framework. The Polyglot framework . DAP, built on top of Polyglot framework and DTS, built on top of Clowder framework, supports contribution of new tools from user across various research domains and availability of the tools for other users to use. A tool is a Brown Dog script/program that wraps any piece of code, software, library or webservice and exposes their conversion/extraction capabilities which are in turn made available through consistent DAP/DTS APIs.
