Arkansas Data Portal Work Plan

Intro

The Arkansas data portal will include three parts: 1) Geostream data framework, 2) Summary dashboard, and 3) Storyboards. The tasks and work plan are designed around these 3 parts. 

• Duration: 12/1/2020 – 4/30/2021
• Deliverable: Development version of Arkansas Data Portal

Prerequisite Tasks:

NGRREC work with Arkansas DEQ staff to summarize most important points of the Nutrient Reduction Strategy and important data, maps and concepts to display.

NGRREC work with Arkansas DEQ staff to understand audience of the website and how progress toward NRS goals is being tracked.

Task 1: Acquiring Data

This task is about acquiring data from partners in Arkansas.

• Task 1-1: Acquiring time series data of water quality data and metadata
  • AR to provide data, working with NGRREC and NCSA on data specifications
• Task 1-2: Acquiring geospatial data (layers)
  • AR and NGRREC to work together to identify geospatial layers needed
• Task 1-3: Acquiring analysis output data
  • Run models/analysis if needed
  • Acquire model outputs if already available.

Milestones:

• End of Dec, 2020: First set of data (water quality and geospatial layers) by partners
• End of Feb, 2021: Final set of data (water quality and geospatial layers) by partners

Task 2: Configuring/deploying Geostreams data framework

This task is about configuring the Geostreams data framework according to the acquired data from Task 1 and deploying the system.

• Task 2-1: Configuring/organizing structure of water quality data
• Task 2-2: Parsing water quality data and metadata from Task 1-1
• Task 2-3: Configuring User Interface including about page, header, footer, and menu
• Task 2-4: Ingesting Geospatial layers and configuring the styles of layers from Tasks 1-2
• Task 2-5: Configuring model/analysis outputs for visualization
• Task 2-6: Deploying the system

Milestones:

• End of Feb, 2021: Initial release of Geostreams Data Framework
• End of Apr, 2021: Final release of development version of the data portal

Task 3: Configuring Summary Dashboard

This task is about configuring/customizing summary dashboard

• Task 3-1: Identifying and preparing the data displayed at the summary dashboard
• Task 3-2: Configuring summary dashboard with data from Task 3-1
• Task 3-3: Deploying the summary dashboard

Milestones:

• End of Mar, 2021: Initial deployment of the summary dashboard
• End of Apr, 2021: Final release of development version of the data portal

Task 4: Developing a Storyboard

This task is about developing a storyboard

• Task 4-1: Identifying the idea for a storyboard and designing it as a slide set by partners in Arkansas
• Task 4-2: Designing the storyboard for implementation on the data portal
• Task 4-3: Implementing the storyboard in the web interface

Milestones:

• End of Feb, 2021: Deployment of the storyboard
• End of Apr, 2021: Final release of development version of the data portal

Schedule and major milestones

• Duration: 12/1/2020 – 4/30/2021

Risk Management and change control

The schedule of the work plan is subject to change depending on unexpected delay. For example, based on the nature of the data provided by Arkansas, there could be delays in preparing the data to be loaded into the portal. When the delay happens, this work plan should be revisited and adjusted.
