Type | Display Name | Location | Depth | Variable | Show Time series | Supported |
1 | Point | No | 1 | No | No | |
2 | Point | No | 1 | Yes | Yes | |
3 | Point | No | Many | No | No | |

Type #1
API: One can have a stream with only one data point in it
GUI: Assumes timeseries plot. Need to add new visualization type for one data point.
Difficulty: Easy
Type #2
API: Supported
GUI: Supported using timeseries and box and whisker plot.
Type #3

Difficulty: Easy
Type #4
API: Supported
GUI: Supported using timeseries and box and whisker plot.
Type #5
API: Streams could be used to support this, with sensor representing a location and streams the different sensors

It would be nice to have a more convenient way to add multiple variables to one instrument. Ex. a soil moisture instrument will measure soil moisture, temperature, and electrical conductivity.
