The binary zip/bz2 files we distribute do not have the copyright notices in them for the library jars we are including.
Many licenses/copyrights, including our own, require reproducing the copyright notice in distributions.
We also need to make these licenses available for separate download. This is important as other people cannot often even download our stuff without scrutinizing ours and all the licenses/copyright notices transitively of everything we include. (This is the constraint IBM folks are under, and we want them to be able to demo our stuff.)
Best bet I think is for us to lift all copyright/license files from the source jars, pile them all in one directory, and then we can put that up on the wiki and in the zip/bz2.
That way it is in the distribution, but also people can look at it before download.
We should double-check that none of the software we are including is licensed under the GPL (any version), as that would preclude others from using it in many situations.
