Support Grantee and Coalition - Due Date 9/30 (original) - needs to be a talking point with Moira on Monday

  • Engage with EFF Illinois to develop a concept paper
    • They want to see our storyboards
    • Moira will tell us on when she wants to convene the grantees - no later than December
      • have a draft to take to that meeting - Ellen and Dick can work on that
      • piggy back on an existing meeting? which one? November or December
      • Illinois Nutrient Reduction is early December
    • Then we can write the paper - short concept paper (no more than 5)
      • Done by end of year
    • NCSA responsibility - editing / contributing as needed - limited involvement
  • Engage with other WFF awardees on campus
    • Jonathan C and Reid C - quarterly meeting at NCSA

Develop State Tracking Sites - NCSA Due 1/31/2021

  • Work with two new states and continue with Illinois
    • Links to dashboards will be delivered to WFF - links will not be expected to be live to the public
    • State specific subsites - Agree by end of year

      • indicators for tracking changes in water quality
    • Arkansas (def) and Missouri
    • We also have Wisconsin if the others do not engage

    • identify what data they have
      • ideas of what data we want

    • nutrient reduction strategies specific to site - first priority

Develop Viz of conservation practices as a proof of concept for an ag conservation dashboard - due 9/30/20

  • with Reid C - driven by this work - this is primary focus
    • need data in database

  • Kaiyu's work? - does not cover all conservation practices - use only as part / overlay

Develop a tool/algorithm to standardize approaches to calculate nutrient load conditions and trends ( as a prelude to senitinel site analysis)

  • Due by 11/30/20 ( really need earlier to use on sentinel sites)
  • nutrient load tend analysis tool - work with McIssac - this is finalizing it
  • discuss with USGS/EPA/HTF workgroup to conform metrics to track and how to calculate - first call week of 11/18/19
  • need it because of different data / different sensors - data gap between sensors
    • dealing with incomplete data
    • using Greg's work to fill gap

Develop Sentinel Site Approach

  • Develop criteria for sentinel sites
    • internal list to discuss with EPA by 11/13/19; call with EPA to compare to their needs week of 11/18/19
    • finalize criteria by 1/1/20
    • work with HTF state workgroup to select sites in each state- states take lead on this
    • Sites need to identified by 5/1/20; final sites selected by 11/2020
    • 1 site per state commitment

  • Sentinel Sites Approved and active - 4/30/21

    • HTF website list all sentinel sits and current water quality data from those sites
    • presentation at state meetings to validate to report

Dashboard for sentinel sites by 4/30/2021
