Connecting to IllinoisNet or NCSANet Wireless SSIDs
If you need wireless access:
- For access to NCSA project resources, networking devices and printers you need to be connected to NCSANet
For ease of roaming around campus you should connect to the campus-provided IllinoisNet.
To get this setup follow the instructions here.
Anyone in the Desktop Support Team can also assist you with connecting to the network. To use this network you will need to know your University of Illinois NetID and Password.
- Wired Access
- Plug into the port you wish to activate
- Activate the ports by following these instructions: https://netact.ncsa.illinois.edu/
- This will assign a domain name for the machine.
- If your machine requires a USB ethernet connector/dongle you will need a driver for it to work: http://www.asix.com.tw/products.php?op=pItemdetail&PItemID=131;71;112
- Printer Setup
- Windows: Open a Run box and type \\ncsa-print.ncsa.illinois.edu and then if a login box comes up login with uof\netid then double click the printer you want to install. If no login box pops up then you should just double click the printer you want
