I spoke with James here at the SEAD booth at AGU about their OPeNDAP services for working with NetCDF and thought it might make a good extractor or fit with Clowder the way we use Geoserver, but I don't know if there's enough user interest yet across projects to drive something (perhaps your modeling users would want this?). In any case, I thought it would be worth getting everyone in contact so further discussion can happen.
