Segmentation can be improved:

• Coarse rotation (Make sure that all the cards in each card type is rotated by the same angle)
• Fine rotation (Make sure that the rotation angle is calculated and applied accurately)
• Debug template matching code for improvements
• While doing cropping, try reducing the tolerance and see if that improves segmentation quality
• Check for better contrast and brightness values based on card types

  • MATLAB:
    • Try better parameters for morphological operations to smoothen ink profile and removing noise
    • Splitting based on ink concentration, especially digit 8. Is there a better way to do this?
