As of Nov 2011, Daffodil code is more oriented toward arrays of elements. The DFDL standard has moved properties onto the sequence model group object. For example sequences have separators. Arrays of elements (multiple-occurring elements) don't have separators. The Sequence group they are in can have a separator.
Accomodating this requires some reorganization in the processing algorithms. Parsing sequences becomes more first class.
