It is standard practice to use hyphens to separate multi-word options rather than camelCase. So, --validation-mode rather than --validationMode.

However, now that I think about it, the following is a little more simple:

--validate [mode]

So mode is optional, and we default to 'on' if a mode is not specified, similar to how the --debug option works.
