In general, using the default @user.home/workspace is fine, but if a user starts up another version of Eclipse and allows it to use the default workspace, there are settings for the IDE stored in @user.home/workspace. When the RCP application (e.g. Ergo-EQ) starts up, it is automatically using that workspace as the default (this was intended since users did not need to be bothered with this since it persists settings); however if the workspace is already in use, it will prevent Ergo from launching or when Ergo launches, it will try to restore views/settings that it does not have, causing broken views, etc.
We should set the default workspace to be inside the install folder to prevent this.
