If I don't select a location but select a data source, all of those data sources are highlighted on every lake, but the lakes/locations are not correspondingly highlighted in the left panel.

Could we change the control, adding an "All Lakes" or "All Locations" option and pre-selecting that by default until the user changes it to a single lake?

A dropdown list would work I think. See attached screenshot.
