should be rewritten so the applet shows progress, since it's the only one that can reliably catch the drop action. whereas it's a pain in the butt to have the applet call GWT, it's easy to have GWT call the applet, so the form upload can do that, and the applet can handle its own progress bar. plus the straight HTML progress bar is ugly.
