as one zooms in and high-resolution tiles replace larger, lower-resolution tiles in the Seadragon interface, the image content appears to move slightly and sometimes leaves a seam.

If this is an unavoidable behavior of Seadragon, just close this issue with extreme prejudice. Otherwise the pyramid extraction code may be the culprit.
