The contact(s) for the NCED data repository field requests from users who want specific data but don't know where to look. The contact/steward generally knows the collection structure, naming conventions, etc. and so can usually find the data files using basic navigation tools. Once found, the steward needs to a) identify the data set(s) answering the query, notify the user, provide the user access, and make sure they have a direct link to get the relevant data (i.e. a URL rather than a description of how to go in through the main interface and navigate). If these operations are simple - e.g. could be done using tags, with a 'send email' button, a simple 'provide access to <email>' option for non-public collections, and the URIs to access all datasets with a given tag could be generated for inclusion in an email, it would be a significant productivity gain for the stewards...
