The objectives of the Vector Borne Disease project are to implement an existing model that predicts the West Nile virus mosquito infection rates based on past weather and to improve accessibility of the input and output data for the model. This includes expanding or reducing the region that the preexisting model addresses, developing ways to allow better access to the data that drive the model so that users can better assess why the infection rate has increased or decreased, developing methods to fetch data from variant sources and process it into the format needed for the model, and integrating the Biggerstaff mosquito infection rate model into the same framework.
