A user who is intends to run a quality control process on one or more data sets selects one or more specifications for data quality control from a predefined set of specifications that have been aligned with use cases. The user may select a use case which specifies a predefined subset of specifications, or the user may select one or more specifications directly. The user selects one or more output formats.

Preconditions: User authenticated into QC application.

Postconditions: List of one or more specifications for data quality tests along with a list of one or more output formats. These specifications can be stored by the user for reuse on multiple runs (of the same or multiple datasets) or executed.
